Itinerary

Day 1Cusco – Biking – Rafting - Santa Maria

Pick-up will be between 06:30 to 07.00 am. Please be always ready to leave. We will be arriving at any time at your hotel. Once the group is complete, we will travel by bus to Ollantaytambo, where we will have breakfast. After, we will continue to Abra Malaga 4,316 m.a.s.l / 14160ft (highest point). It is the place where your adventure will start. Here, we will be fully equipped with bicycle protection equipment and begin the 65 km / 40.389mi (3 hours bike downhill)

Descending with our bikes, we will enjoy the breathtaking view of the “cloud forest “to the town of Nueva Victoria, where we will have lunch. Once we finish our lunch, the bus will take us to Santa Maria, where you will do the rafting (included) in the Vilcanota river (class III, IV). Those who do not do this activity can continue to our lodge in Santa Theresa and visit the hot springs in Cocalmayo. Travelers who decided to do the rafting can go to Cocalmayo hot spring after finishing the activity. We will spend the night in Santa Teresa.

At night, we will have dinner in a group and enjoy the time with your new travel buddies with a Pisco Sour!

Day 2Zip Line - Hydroelectric - Aguas Calientes

The morning will start with breakfast, then those who want to do the zip line (included) will have the opportunity to do it. Those who do not want to do can continue resting at the lodge until the rest of the group return. Once we are all together again, we will begin our bus trip to the hydroelectric.

We will arrive at Hydroeléctrica after the 40-minute bus trip and we will stop for lunch and rest before the last leg of our journey: a 9 km route that runs along the train trail, located in a part of the jungle, full of incredible and dense vegetation.

Here we will have the option of taking the train ($ 35.00) or walking about 3 hours to Aguas Calientes.
Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, we will leave our bags at the lodge, and we will have free time to explore the town and the artisan market or relax with a bath at the hot springs ($ 5.00 / 15 soles) or rest at the lodge. In the evening, we will meet with the whole group again. We will have dinner in a restaurant and have a briefing with the guide for our next day’s visit to Machu Picchu.

Day 3Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes - Ollantaytambo - Cusco

Finally, the BIG DAY arrived. Today we will get up very early at 4:30 am and 4:50 am to start the last day of the Inca Jungle trek. We will meet in the dining room with all our belongings to have a good breakfast (30min) and then leave for the citadel of Machu Picchu on foot for about 1hr50min or take the tourist bus (20 min – 12 USD UP).

Upon our arrival at the entrance of Machu Picchu, we will all proceed to show our original passports and tickets to the control area. Once inside the Citadel, we will have time to take pictures for about 20 min approx. We will begin our 2-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu, after which we will have free time to explore it.

At the end of the visit, we will return to Aguas Calientes on foot or by bus (USD 12 down). Here we will have time for lunch and then return to the hotel to collect our belongings and go to the train station to catch the train that will take us to Ollantaytambo (1hr45min), where our bus will be waiting there to take us to Cusco 2hrs.

VERY IMPORTANT:
The train departure will be according to the SCHEDULE available by the train company. It can vary depending on how early was purchased/booked your trek.

If you have a different type of Machu Picchu ticket than the rest of the group, then you have to enter at the specified time your entrance. It will mean that you do not have the included guide of 2 hours in the citadel. It can happen if you buy or reserve the trek with us at the last minute or if you got your Machu Picchu ticket during the high season.

The drop-off will be at Plaza Regocijo, close to Plaza de Armas, three block distance. We do this because the traffic in Cusco city at night is chaotic, and the arrival at your hostel door may take too much time. We hope you can understand.

The guided tour to the citadel is always done in the early hours of the day (2hrs). If you have a different ticket (circuit) than the rest of the group, or if you have a different entry time, you have to enter to Machu Picchu without any guide. That means that you will not  have the guided tour offered for 2hrs unfortunately. This is because we only have one guide for the group. We look forward to your understanding.

A duffel bag will be provided to everyone before the hike begins at the time of the briefing. We will ask you for a small deposit (50 soles) for this.
