After lunch, we will continue to the beautiful Humantay Lagoon. There we will enjoy incredible views of the lagoon with the snow in the background, creating a landscape that is considered one of the most beautiful of the Andes. Then, we will go back to the Soraypampa camp, where we will have dinner and rest until the next day.

Day 2Soraypampa – Soyrococha – Huayracmachay - Colpapampa

Today we will get up early, and after breakfast, we will begin the ascend to the Salkantay pass, which is at 4750 masl / 15583ft, the highest point of the entire route, from where we can observe the beautiful valleys and the imposing snowy peaks.

Then we will begin our descent to the town of Huayracmachay, where we will have time to eat and regain strength to continue to our campsite in Colpapampa, where we will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 3Colpapampa - Playa Sahuayaco – Hidroelectric - Aguas Calientes

We will get up early and after breakfast. We will begin our walk to the small town of Playa Sahuayaco through the Santa Teresa Valley. During the walk, we will be surrounded by nature, rivers, waterfalls, and wild orchids! We will also see coffee and banana plantations. After lunch, a private bus will take us to Santa Teresa, where we will take transport to Hydroelectric. Here, we will continue walking for another 3 hours following the train rail until reaching Aguas Calientes.

Once in Aguas Calientes, you will have time before dinner to rest or walk through the town. We will stay in our hostel with a private room and bathroom. The following morning will have an early wake-up, as we will begin our walk to one of the “Seven wonders of the World”

Day 4Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Ollantaytambo - Cusco

We will wake up early to start the fourth and last day of the Salkantay trek, with a walk of approximately 1.5 hours to Machu Picchu. You can take the optional bus (20 minutes -12 USD extra) and skip the walk. Upon our arrival, we will start a 2-hour guided tour of the Citadel. Then, we will have free time to explore the Citadel and relax.

At the end of the visit, we will return to Aguas Calientes (if you wish, you can return by bus to avoid the walk, buying the ticket for (12 USD). We will have time for lunch (1hr approx) and then take the train that will take us to Ollantaytambo, where our bus will be waiting to take us back to Cusco.

VERY IMPORTANT:

The train departure will be according to the SCHEDULE available by the train company. It can vary depending on how early was purchased.

If you have a different type of Machu Picchu ticket than the rest of the group, then you have to enter at the specified time your entrance. It will mean that you do not have the included guide of 2 hours in the citadel. It can happen if you buy or reserve the trek with us at the last minute or, if you got your Machu Picchu ticket during the high season.

The drop-off will be at Plaza Regocijo, close to Plaza de Armas, three block distance. We do this because the traffic in Cusco city at night is chaotic, and the arrival at your hostel door may take too much time. We hope you can understand.
