Amazonian Cuisine

A Taste of the Rainforest

The Peruvian Amazon is a lush pantry overflowing with exotic ingredients and ancestral flavors. Amazonian cuisine dazzles with its use of river fish, tropical fruits, wild herbs, and rare spices found nowhere else. Each dish tells a story of connection to the forest—grilled paiche wrapped in banana leaves, refreshing camu camu juices, and earthy stews enriched with native roots. It’s vibrant, colorful, and adventurous—just like the rainforest itself.

Andean Cuisine

Heritage of the Highlands

Arequipa—Peru’s White City—is not only known for its stunning architecture but also for its legendary cuisine, proudly called “La Cocina Arequipeña.” Rooted in tradition and bursting with flavor, Arequipa’s food scene is famous for its hearty dishes, bold spices, and the creative use of local ingredients like native potatoes, Andean corn, fresh cheeses, and farm-raised meats. From smoky stews to fiery sauces, this region’s cuisine is a celebration of depth, culture, and comfort on every plate.

Coastal Cuisine

Freshness from the Pacific

Peru’s coast is the birthplace of some of the country’s most iconic dishes, and Lima stands proudly as the gastronomic capital. Here, the Pacific Ocean delivers a daily bounty of fresh seafood that inspires world-class ceviches, tiraditos, and causas. Coastal cooking is a harmony of brightness and freshness—zesty limes, spicy ajíes, and tender fish—blending ancient fishing traditions with a dash of modern culinary innovation. Every bite is a taste of the ocean breeze.

Itinerary

We will meet at our designated meeting point in Miraflores, where we’ll begin an immersive gastronomic experience through some of Lima’s most iconic districts: Miraflores, Barranco, and Surquillo. Throughout the journey, we’ll take you to authentic, carefully selected spots, where you’ll discover the best of Peruvian cuisine, its cultural diversity, and its deep connection to the land.

Surquillo: Fruits & Ceviche

We’ll make a brief stop in Surquillo, a district neighboring Miraflores and home to Market No. 1, one of Lima’s most traditional local markets. Here, you’ll explore the vibrant colors and aromas of Peru through a tasting of native exotic fruits, many of them sourced from the Amazon rainforest and the Andes.

You’ll also sample iconic dishes from Peru’s coastal cuisine, world-renowned for its freshness, refined techniques, and deep connection to the Pacific Ocean—one of the most biodiverse seas on the planet.

Miraflores: Ancestral & distinction

In Miraflores, you’ll have the opportunity to choose between two unique gastronomic experiences, each showcasing a different side of Peru’s rich culinary heritage:

Option 1: Taste Peruvian Amazonian cuisine, featuring native ingredients and ancestral flavors from the rainforest.

Option 2: Visit a family-run Arequipean restaurant to enjoy traditional recipes from southern Peru.

Barranco – Coffee, Art and Pisco

To conclude our journey through flavors and aromas, we head to the bohemian district of Barranco, renowned for its republican architecture, artistic heritage, and creative spirit.

Here, you will enjoy Peruvian specialty coffee, celebrated for its origin, diversity, and elegant flavor profiles, sourced from the Andean–Amazonian regions.

We finish the experience with a Pisco Sour toast, Peru’s iconic cocktail, celebrating everything tasted, learned, and experienced throughout the day.
