Full Itinerary

Day 1: Gateway to Manu National Park

Where the Andes Meet the Amazon

Leave Cusco behind and begin one of Peru’s most spectacular scenic journeys. Travel across the Andes, visit the colonial town of Paucartambo, and descend through Acjanaco Pass into the lush Cloud Forest—the gateway to Manu National Park.

Along the way, enjoy a guided wildlife walk where you may spot the iconic Cock-of-the-Rock, colorful birds, orchids, and playful monkeys before arriving at your comfortable lodge in Pilcopata.

As the sun sets, settle into your comfortable jungle lodge surrounded by pristine rainforest, where the sounds of the Amazon become your soundtrack for the night.

Day 2: Amazon Rivers, Wildlife & Jungle Nights

Into the Heart of Manu

After breakfast, continue deeper into the rainforest on a scenic drive to Atalaya Port, where your Amazon adventure truly begins. Board a motorized canoe and cruise along the majestic Alto Madre de Dios River, surrounded by untouched jungle and incredible biodiversity.

Along the way, enjoy a relaxing stop at a natural hot spring before arriving at Paititi Lodge. In the afternoon, explore the tranquil Machuwasi Lake aboard a traditional balsa raft, searching for monkeys, hoatzins, colorful birds, caimans, turtles, and other fascinating wildlife.

After dinner, experience the rainforest from a completely different perspective during a guided night walk, when frogs, insects, spiders, reptiles, and nocturnal creatures awaken beneath the jungle canopy.

Day 3: Parrot Clay Lick, Hidden Lagoons & Night Safari

06:00 AM – Discover Manu’s Greatest Wildlife

Wake before sunrise for one of Manu’s most unforgettable wildlife spectacles as hundreds of colorful parrots gather at the famous Parrot Clay Lick, creating an extraordinary display of sound and color.

After breakfast, venture deeper into the rainforest on a guided hike toward the peaceful Lake Maravilla, a hidden lagoon surrounded by towering trees and abundant wildlife. Along the trails, your expert guide will help you spot monkeys, tropical birds, butterflies, giant trees, medicinal plants, and, if you’re lucky, a dwarf caiman resting along the riverbanks.

Following lunch and time to relax at the lodge, head back into the jungle for another evening exploration, where the rainforest comes alive with glowing insects, tree frogs, nocturnal birds, and the unforgettable sounds of the Amazon after dark.

Day 4: Farewell to the Amazon

One Last Journey Through Manu

Enjoy one final breakfast surrounded by the rainforest before boarding your boat for a peaceful cruise back along the Alto Madre de Dios River to Atalaya Port. From there, begin the scenic drive back toward Cusco, once again crossing the spectacular cloud forest and Andean landscapes.

Along the route, admire breathtaking mountain views and reflect on four unforgettable days spent exploring one of the world’s most biodiverse destinations. Arrive back in Cusco around 7:00 PM, carrying incredible memories of Manu National Park, its extraordinary wildlife, and an adventure that few travelers ever experience.

Travel Information – Journey & Comfort Notes:

One of the highlights of this adventure is the scenic drive from Cusco through the Andes, cloud forest, and into the Amazon rainforest. Along the way, you’ll enjoy spectacular viewpoints, wildlife observation opportunities, and scheduled comfort stops before reaching the jungle.

Because Manu is one of Peru’s most remote protected areas, some road sections are winding and unpaved, making the journey part of the adventure itself.

Operated by experienced local guides with extensive knowledge of Manu National Park and its unique wildlife.
